Fatima remembered the day she was helping her disabled son eat one afternoon when she suddenly felt severe abdominal pain. With her husband having passed away recently, she really didn’t have the time to make another doctor’s visit and dismissed it. But after weeks of unbearable discomfort, she finally decided to see her GP.
It all went downhill from there. She was diagnosed with cancer which was then followed by multiple rounds of unsuccessful treatment. Much later, the decision was made to place her in palliative care. Fatima accepted this news with patience and gratitude, having already faced great challenges in raising her disabled son single-handedly after the loss of her beloved husband.
Her son was now an adult, but with his disability, was in no position to support Fatima. She needed help with regular expenses, medication, and transportation due to regular hospital visits. She had no one to support her and had to manage everything by herself - all while Ramadan was around the corner.
One of her friends suggested she contact NZF. Alhamdulillah, our team was able to create an assistance plan for her with ongoing food and medical vouchers, as well as Ramadan financial assistance.
None of this would be possible without your support and donations. There are many other people in our community like Fatima who are hit with unexpected medical challenges and are in need of our support.
