Hana moved to Australia after marrying her husband, and soon after, she became pregnant. Still not a permanent citizen, Hana initially hoped for a fresh start in her new country. However, over the years, she faced escalating violence at the hands of her husband. Seven months ago, she made the brave decision to escape, fleeing with her young autistic child to a refuge.
Living in the refuge, Hana finds it challenging to secure part-time employment, as she needs to care for her son, who requires constant attention. The funds she had saved had decreased, barely covering her expenses. She doesn't have enough money left for winter clothing for her son or for food. Her son's autism makes him particular about the types of food he eats, adding another layer of difficulty.
Desperate for help, Hana applied to NZF for assistance. After completing her assessment, we found that she was eligible for Zakat.
Thanks to your Zakat, Hana was able to purchase new winter clothes for her son and basic necessities like groceries. Your support ensured that Hana didn’t have to worry about her young child during the upcoming winter months and provided relief from the constant stress of securing basic necessities like food and clothing.
This is your local Zakat in action, providing Hana and her son with warmth and sustenance when they needed it most.
