In October of the previous year, tragedy struck Abuk's life as he mourned the loss of his father. This untimely event weighed heavily on his heart and thrust upon him a newfound sense of responsibility. Determined to provide solace and support to his grieving mother, who was left alone, Abuk made the brave decision to embark on a journey overseas to reunite with her.
However, Abuk didn't realise that he was about to get caught up in a raging war in his home country. Stuck there for 7 months, the chaos and violence surrounding him only intensified his determination to find safety and refuge for himself and his mother.
After enduring countless challenges and hardships, Abuk and his mother finally arrived back to Australia. Yet their arrival did not immediately bring the stability they yearned for. Abuk found himself couch surfing, relying on the generosity of friends to find temporary shelter, while his mother found temporary refuge with someone else.
The toll of living separately has been immense for Abuk and his mother. Their urgent needs for stable housing, regular meals, and basic accommodation were pressing concerns that required immediate attention and support.
Recognising the gravity of their situation, Abuk reached out to us at the National Zakat Foundation for assistance. After a thorough assessment of their circumstances, it was determined that Abuk and his mother were eligible for Zakat.
Your Zakat assisted Abuk and his mother with the necessary funds for bond and rent, ensuring they had a secure place to call their own. Additionally, they were assisted with their basic needs, ensuring that they had groceries and essential items to facilitate their resettlement process.
If you or someone you know is experiencing hardships, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to provide support and assistance to those in need.
