Addictive behaviours are very common and, unfortunately, easier to develop than to navigate away from. Most people in society, even Muslims, may find themselves unable to psychologically cope and physically control themselves from drug and alcohol use, visual addictions (such as gaming, social media and pornography), and gambling, along with many others. The persistence of these addictive behaviours can be distressing, which can be heavily damaging to an individual’s life and their relationships with their loved ones.
Through this program, we aim to help individuals from the Australian Muslim community, and their families, grow out of the addictions that have overshadowed their lives. We hope that through this program, we can raise awareness, provide adequate support, access to resources and rehabilitation services through our partnerships, which would otherwise be expensive and inaccessible.
The New Beginnings program is designed to support individuals and families who have been victims of addictive behaviours themselves, or through a family member’s lifestyle. This program is specifically for families who want to move forward following major familial events (such as incarceration, a divorce or separation of the family etc.) due to addictive behaviours. We hope to help families succeed together as Muslims in the Australian community.
Support provided through this program includes, but is not limited to, financial support for essentials or access to resources, activities to improve the family’s wellbeing, mentoring services, counselling sessions, psychotherapy for trauma/addictions and more.
The application and validation process is done by the NZF Team with confidentiality. Any information given will only be used to determine the best way we can help you.
